Governor McDonnell’s Education Initiatives

Within the months of September and October, Governor Bob McDonnell has issued two initiatives related to public education in the Commonwealth that recognize the efforts of educators and leaders in our public schools.

On September 18, the Governor’s office issued a document designating  September as “Education Appreciation Month.” Part of his proclamation included the statement.. “our Commonwealth is blessed with an abundance of highly skilled,  innovative and dedicated educators – including teachers, principals, superintendents, school  boards, tutors, school faculty and staff in both public and private institutions.” You can read the entire document at http://www.allstudents.virginia.gov/educatorMonth2012.cfm

Today, Governor McDonnell announced his ALL STUDENTS initiative aimed at “raising awareness about the critical role K-12 educators play in our Commonwealth.”  Governor McDonnell plans to have members of his administration cover the state to speak with educators, other stakeholders and asking parents for ideas and feedback.
