Middle School Principal of the Year Transitions to Superintendent

It was about this time last year that Steven Parker, Principal at Cedar Lee Middle School in the Fauquier County School Division was preparing for the usual end-of-year  school wrap up.  In addition to school closing,  summer activities and the annual summer conference, Steven Parker had a special reason for attending the 2013 VASSP Summer Conference and Exposition at the Homestead.  Mr. Parker would be honored during the General Opening Session as the 2013 Outstanding Middle School Principal of the Year. His resume’ and performance at Cedar Lee Middle had been documented by his superintendent and his school community which contributed to this recognition on June 12, 2013.

Now, move ahead nearly twelve months later, and Steven Parker has another recogniton along with a new position. He will be leaving the Fauquier School Division as principal and transition both in location and position for the 2014-2015 school year as Superintendent in Lancaster County, Virginia. His leadership skills, concerns for his students and professional qualities served him well as a building principal and will also serve Steven well as the  Lancaster Division Superintendent.

Congratulations Steven and best wishes as you bring your professional and leadership skills to a new location and new position responsibilities.  Also as a personal aside, welcome to the Northern Neck of Virginia!
