Monitoring Your Congressional Members Made Easy

You must admit that the 2012 Virginia General Assembly session and meetings provided moments of interest, humor and also incredulity as our GA members wrangled through the myriad of legislative proposals, some of which we now must accept as law. You have been able to track the legislative process through our blog site, personal telephone calls,  and email hopefully with your own local representatives in the General Assembly.

What about our congressional representatives on Capitol Hill in Washington, D. C.?  They are a little farther away and perhaps out of sight and out of mind. If this is your feeling, then  listed below are  sites for you to access and to monitor our Virginia Senators and members in the House of Representatives. Keep these sites handy in the event you want to know what is happening inside the Beltway.

www.VoteSmart.org will help you with identifying your local congressional and state representatives according to your ZIP code. Interestingly, summaries of campaign finance and voting records are included.

www.THOMAS.loc.gov  is managed by the Library of Congress  and lists the bills our lawmakers have sponsored along with the status of each bill.

www.C-SPANarchives.org/congress ranks lawmakers by the number of days they spoke on the floor and links to each appearance in Congress.
