The State Board of Education met on September 24th with the usual items on their agenda. This meeting was particularly significant as three VASSP school administrators were recognized for their selection as Outstanding High School Principal, Outstanding Middle School Principal and Outstanding Secondary School Assistant Principal. Each administrator was introduced and recognized by Mr. David Foster, President of School Board. All three had family, friends and colleagues with them for this important occaison.
The Resolution/Recognition portion of the agenda was delivered as follows:
1. Resolution of Recognition presented to 2013 Outstanding High School Principal of Virginia: Mrs. Gracie Agnew, Principal at Magna Vista High School, Henry County Public Schools. Mr. Foster also noted that Magna Vista High School was a Green Ribbon Award winner for 2013.
2. Resolution of Recognition presented to 2013 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia: Mr. Steven Parker, Principal at Cedar Lee Middle School, Fauquier County Public Schools.
3. Resolution of Recognition presented to 2013 Outstanding Secondary School Assistant Principal of the Year: Dr. Paula Johnson, Principal at Bayside Middle School, Virginia Beach City Public Schools. *Editor’s note: When Dr. Johnson applied, interviewed and chosen as the Outstanding AP, she was at that time an assistant pricipal. Like all great assistant principals, she was later offered a principalship and moved up to that position. Congratulations Dr. Johnson!
The school board recognizes educators at varied times during the year, but it was a significant and rewarding esperience to see three VASSP administrators honored for their achievements in a public school board meeting. Congratulations again to all three top VASSP administrators.
