When administrators plan to divide responsibilities among the staff, at times it can become a daunting task. Beyond the leadership roles of administrators and department leaders, it can be difficult to assign leadership responsibilities for teachers that are both functional and appropriate for the individual. Many teachers have leadership potential and can use these qualities to enhance learning, school climate and helping to support faculty.
In a recent article in ASCD Edge, February 21, Weber provides an opportunity for administrators to “cultivate and support teacher leaders” by providing a list of ways that teachers can find a leadership role within the school. His list was origionally identified as “Leadership A to Z” but ran out of terms after W. Listed below are the roles he developed for his staff. More than one staff member can assume a role and a staff member can also take on more than one leadership role.
