In response to the incident at the school in Murrysville, Pa, NASSP has reprinted a Strategic Safety blog on their website. The blog is entitled “Sunshine: The Greater Part of Life” and offers recommendations to help students, staff and parents when a crisis occurs in their own school.
The title of the article comes from a comment made by Thomas Jefferson, “Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine.” It is in that spirit that school communities must operate each day.
